Sounds like one smart little cookie!! Lucky you!! I say use potty pads either paper or cloth (washable) since they have a waterproof backing. I wouldn't want wet newspaper directly on my floor. If she doesn't go on the potty pads, put a newspaper on top for awhile and slowly decrease the size until you don't need the newspaper on top anymore.
By the way, CONGRATS on the new puppy!!! Enjoy her while she's little, puppyhood goes by so fast.
