High protein is not "bad." It's kind of a debatable issue. Some feel Yorkies little bodies don't need the amount of protein in Orijen (which I believe is over 42%) If you have a liver compromised dog, they need a LOW protein diet and with yorkies being so prone to liver shunts, many are leery to feed a high protein food. My personal opinion is that the more active your dog is, the higher protein you can/should feed. Jackson's a fairly active dog.. he's no Border Collie or anything, but he generally gets 1-3 hourly or more visits to the dog park, 1 walk per day at min. of 30 minutes, a nightly game of fetch, weekly visits to my dad's house with their 2 dogs and fenced in backyard, etc so he gets fed a grain free 32% protein food (Fromm) and it works for us! I think you just need to find what works for you and your dog.
