I've also been looking at the rescue sights, but the fact of the matter is that I don't have the kind of money to really help some of those dogs in the way they need to be helped in most cases, as sad as it is. Yes, I can help by donating money, but not the kind of money that will pay medical bills for life on these rescues which is what they need and deserve with as hard a life as most of them have had.

We have a yorkie-poo, and bought her from a reputable person, and are quite happy with her. I definitely don't support the "designer dog" hype where people charge outrageous prices for the supposedly rare or trendy mixes, but we didn't pay an outrageous price at all and didn't buy her because it was trendy. Simply put, she's exactly what we were looking for and we knew we could give her a good home.

In my opinion, and it's just that, make sure you find a reputable person who isn't selling dogs to cash in or isn't a puppy mill/pet store breeder, and you should be happy and satisfied with your little one.

Brighteyes: I am so sorry about your loss and your story brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't imagine going through that much pain. I know your baby was so precious to you and that you had no other choice but to do what was best. My Kelsey (yorkie/poo) was very sick when I got her. She had Parvo. Thank God I caught it early with 4 days of IV's and hospitalization she is now fine and doing great. But I did experience panic and was devestated that she was so sick. I am thankful that she is better now..

I am so glad I have my Kelsey and wouldn't trade her for anything. She is such an intellegent, charasmatic, loyal, loving dog. I am offended when people rule out "designer dogs" or "mutts" all together...but I do understand where they're comming from, everyone has their own opinion. But not all mixed breeds are "trouble"....but I agree you have to look out for the breeders who are bad news and who only do it for money.
