fyi pain meds are not without their risks as well so rushing to use pain meds is not always the answer and no i would not go to the doctor to get pain meds if i sprained my ankle. I try to not take meds unless absolutely necessary same with my dogs as my dog was very sick for months after taking metacam so i will avoid nsaids like the plague with my dogs after what i saw it do to mine and will only use narcotics like tramadol for pain if necessary. I think far too many vets rush to medicate these dogs and then something else happens much worse than a little pain and rest
