New Yorkie Mom Hi All! My family just adopted a sweet 1 yr old 4 lb boy named Rusty (still want to figure out how to change his name without confusing him!) My sons and I have been wanting a Yorkie for forever and hubby finally broke down and said "Yes"! We found a sweet boy whose family could not keep him anymore and brought him home with us to meet our Beagle Mix Stedman who is 7 and our crazy Cat who is 2. It was love at first sight for him with our Beagle! Matter of fact to much love...haven't figured out yet how to keep the playing from turning into humping. That will drive you crazy lol! The Cat could care less about him as long as he isn't trying to hump her. She is pretty laid back and easy going. Her and our Beagle are best buddies so we figure before to long she will love Rusty too.
Hubby still has to warm up fully to our new baby as he is a bigger dog lover. I think once we get past the humping stage he will like him alot better LOL!
Do have a few questions though.
1. He was not neutured when we got him. Hubby is not to keen on the neuturing idea..thinks it is cruel. Our Beagle mix is neutured because we adopted him from the humane society. Would this help with the humping? Or because is already a year old is it now habit? The lady we got him from said he had never humped their male Chi before which I don't fully believe so we are kinda at a loss.
2. He is not registered and his ears don't stand up!! Also, he is a tan color with some grayish looking hair in the middle of his back. Down at the roots of his hair on his back is very dark...does this mean he is not full Yorkie? He almost looks in his face like he might have some Maltese in him> Not that it matters to me LOL!
I can't wait to get to know you all better! Look forward to reading what you all have to say! |
