So my little guy just doesn't get the "potty OUTSIDE" thing. So, my next idea is crate training. He's 8 months old now, and I'm 100% sure he'll have a problem with it.

He's been used to free reign (yes I know, it wasn't a good idea, but it is what it is now)...so how can I transition him without him getting us kicked out of our apartment complex for constant whining/barking?

He's ok with going out every 3 hours, but I'm a student and his problems are when I'm not home. We tried gates to keep him in small areas, but he can jump and climb them. So play-pens are out. Any other ideas?
