First of all, sorry your baby is not feeling herself. Hopefully she'll be back to her playful self soon.
I can't believe groomers would drug a pet w/out their owner's consent, that's just flat out wrong, it should be illegal if it's not.
Busy gromming salons can be stressful for some pets. There's all this unfamiliar noise, locked up in a cage for hours, & other barking dogs.
Mine are terrified of the high velocity dryer & will shake uncontrollably, I have to use a hand dryer.
Have you thought of a mobile groomer? Some are willing to have you stay & watch, but it depends on your pet also. If he/she gets squirmy when mommy is there, it's best to leave him/her w/the groomer.
