Sometimes if you are worried about him, he will pick up on those vibes and may be acting on them. In situations where I have difficulty controlling my emotions/feelings, I know it is better for my pup if I'm not around. The desk thing sounds like he may be trying to protect you. Be sure to let him know you have things under control. ( be a little more Alpha with him)
