I totally know where you are. the first 2 nights we had Hot Rod he cried in his crate. My heart broke but the 3rd night he was fine. We got an xpen within the first week and it seemed to help although he was still not happy about being alone.
It does get better. Now when we say "go night, night" they both go into their xpen.
What made mattes worse, I had a baby monitor so I could all the wimpers and crying.
