this is what I posted and it pertained to the RESCUE Section - which I thought was to save dogs in danger of being put to sleep or dogs in dire need of homes......
My post (so I don't have to retype anything)
I'm a bit confused. When I keep seeing 'donation fee' and it's pretty much always $300 - is that a selling fee or a true rescue/save fee to keep these dogs from being put to sleep ?
I don't 'get' on Kiiji much but from what I've seen in the past - it's like a 'classified' site to sell dogs yes ? I'd love to see all dogs rescued but there are sooooo many on our forum now I wonder if the ones who are in true danger of being put to sleep are getting buried. Are ALL The dogs listed here really in shelters or are we helping BAD BREEDERS sell puppies who are acting like they're needing rescue ?
THIS IS JUST A QUESTION and not aimed at anyone - I just feel that there are so many sitting on death row and they may be overlooked due to all the $300 adoption fees I keep seeing listed.....Is anyone getting paid to post all these ads or are you all just searching the net and finding them randomly ?
NO one is financially able to 'save' all these poor dogs and I'm right up there with everyone else hoping they all find homes ....but some of the ad's I've seen look more like 'SALE' ads rather than true rescues....
Am I not seeing the picture correctly in the Rescue forum or are some of these dogs being sold by greeders that disguise themselves in hopes of making a fast $300.00 bucks ?
Don't the shelters and normally adopt out with shots and maybe include a spay/nueter for this kind of fee ?
On my local news - the Houston ASPCA has a dog/cat a day up for adoption - the fee is ALWAYS $85.00 complete with shots, spay/nueter - I love that segment on the news - I believe they all get 'adopted thanks to tv but I do wonder about the Kiiji site....
I'm just curious so no slamming me please !!!! |
Wow~this has been my thoughts exactly and I couldn't have said it better myself!
Maybe the
RESCUE and REHOME Forum needs to be renamed to
Rescue Forum? Yorkies that are being
rehomed would only be allowed to be posted by YORKIETALK MEMBERS who own the dog needing to be rehomed for $300 or less. Exceptions to this rule would be made by a Moderator of the Rescue Forum, since as we all know there are always
exceptions to every rule I would think that an exception would be a member who knew someone personally who needed to Rehome their Yorkie and knew they would be able to find a wonderful home with a YT member. This way all of the links that are posted will be legitimate rescues and not walking that fine line between a Rescue/Rehome and a Yorkie that falls into the $300 being sold by "someone" who is not even a member of YT. If all of the links to the Kijiji. Craigslist, Hobbly were members of YT they would be posting in the For Sale section. If they were reputable the others breeders would be accepting of them as their peers and if not they would be weeded out for what they really are~BYBer making a few bucks off the backs of these dogs. Which as we all know is not a good breeder breeding for the betterment of the breed.

Just like the legitimate rescues know who is legit and who is hiding behind the label "RESCUE".
Maybe these breeders need to be invited to join the forum and them they would be allowed access to the For Sale forum? Isn't that kind of the idea that is being expressed that $300 For Sale puppies and adults need a home too? That way if a member is interested in purchasing one of these Yorkies these breeders would have a reputation within our community, questions could be asked and we could see some of these Yorkies as they grow and are given new homes.
