A friend of mine has a yorkie and she is the cutest little thing ever, but she has some sort of respiratory problem. Is that common in yorkies? She says she got her from a breeder at a flea market somehwere off i-75 in tennessee.
Regardless, I am looking for a little purse yorkie - looking to spend less than $1000. not too interested in shipping, so I'd like to stay in the east tennessee/southern kentucky areas. I live in Gatlinburg and work full time at an amusement park.
I just started my research and obviously still have lotsto learn. I did a google search and found afew breeders - graysons kennels, snow white obessesion yorkies, mystic mountain yorkies and moon valley yorkies. Any info on these breeders would be much appreciated.
Look forward to lurking around and reading everyones posts. |
Mutts make very nice pets too and I am sure you miss the one you lost.
First of all, don't be looking for a breeder advertising and selling Teacups. They are undersized poor representatives of the breed. often they come with a lot of health issues and cannot be toted around in a purse, they are too delicate.
Some advertising Teacups will sell you a pup that can end up quite large.
A nice size for a yorkie is about 5 lbs or so. However, when you are buying a puppy, no breeder can actually guarantee the size. They can get bigger than expected or smaller.
Good luck in your search. You might try the YTCA their website is
Yorkshire Terrier Club of America and click on the Breeder tab. Expect to be interviewed and approved as a prospective new owner.
