I've always free fed both of mine. They don't seem to have a tendency to over-eat so it works out well. I fill their bowl up twice a day and they munch all day - just when ever they get hungry. Makes it a lot easier for me, too. I can put the food down in the AM and not worry about it. Then, I fill it up when I get home from work, too. Mine do very well making their own eating schedule. Plus, mine are paper trained so I don't need to have them on a bathroom schedule. So, it works for us.
