what leg is it? Did you check the paws?
My demi was lifting her front leg prior to christmas and i called specialty hospital that had orthopedic and spoke to them and they said a dog will not put any weight on a leg if it is broken and they will be in alot of pain. If it is a fracture or sprain they will put some weight bearing on it. Also they said the leg will have swelling if broken and to feel the leg. Also i went down the leg and she had no movement until we got to the paw and she flinched. They said if a broken bone in paw nothing they can do and will not see it on an xray and they will just splint her paw. They told me to give it 72 hrs and see how she does and rest her and in 3 days she was perfectly fine.
DD jumped of doggie stairs hurt her leg and screamed out - it was her back leg - we rushed her in got xrays the next day no break so ruled possible acl tear and gave her metacam which was a nightmare as she is on steroids - she was so sick. I wished i never took her in as she was doing much better in 72 hrs and vet said pain is your best ally it makes them rest and if you give pain med they walk on it making healing time much longer. I much prefer tramadol for pain than any nsaid - less side effects although tramadol does not have anti-inflammatory like nsaid -
