I only have Missy so no male to compare to but she does seem to be pretty independent. Not a real cuddle bug, only when she is tired or there is food around! Life is busy at times so I guess that it is good that she isn't too dependent, though she is usually with my husband or I and rarely alone. She is content to do her own thing, explore and play etc. She is only 4 months though and does sleep alot too!
