mucus in stool can also be a sign of stress. i just took kayden to the vet for loose stool with mucus. the vet did a stool sample test and good overall exam. nothing abnormal. but...we are moving from one house to another (slow move...taking a couple months) and the drive is about 45 minutes. that trip a couple times a week...with the addition of starting doggie daycare caused her to feel stressed.
but the vet explained to me that all stress isn't bad stress. just like kids going to disneyworld is fun...but is stressful because it's a change to their routine.
so...we added psyllium powder to her food for a couple days...and...viola! no more mucus in the stool. she's been off the psyllium for about a week now...and stools are fine.
she just needed a little boost to get her bowels back to normal.
this is just my experience.
i would for sure take your baby to the vet and let them do a stool sample test to make sure.
best of luck to you!
kelli and kayden
