I normally dock at 3 to 4 days old if all is well I just wouldn't do it if it had to be surgically done just for an enhancement for the conformation ring. Here in the US we require a docked tail so show a yorkie with a docked tail...if you get if overseas where they have to have a tail make sure the tail gets docked on the pup you choose when they are younger. I know my friend has a yorkie from Europe and she got her at a young age. I just can't fathom having one docked at over a year old
