if front then not patella - check paw to see if a nail was broken tht is first thing. Keep an eye on him if starts showing signs of pain after shock of it then may be a break -feel down the leg and where does he flinch? he will flinch when you hit the painful part and see if anything moves when going down leg slowly - if not broke they will limp on it and able to apply pressure if they put no pressure at all and in alot of pain then a break
