Similar thing happened when Uni was a baby. Any time she would move in the middle of the night I would get up and see if she needed to pee. I was still half asleep and holding her in one hand, getting my glasses in the other, and I guess I pushed on her bladder, she squirmed and fell out of my hand. She landed on her front right hand and was yelping. I thought I caused her to break her hand. She would hold it up off the floor, but when I touched and massaged it she did not cry out in pain. After a few mins she would gingerly put it down. I was so relieved. but yes, if they are in real pain, they will continually whine or cry out in pain. I think your baby just sprained something, just like my Uni did.
