Yes, I think that may be it since pica is seen with hookworm. Do you know if the pill he's taking contains iron, or is it to treat the hookworms? I would ask my vet about an iron suppliment, what kind and what dosage would be correct. In my opinion, it's more than normal teething. Make sure you tell your vet that there are plenty of chewing toys and sticks around, but the puppy wants to chew on metal.
