I have seen them in the paper here for $ 350.00 to $ 600.00! and they dont care if the puppy is CKC or AKC????? It makes it very hard to sell a quality puppy for what it is worth. Most of my puppies go back to Florida. I think you really need to be careful sometimes as to how low of a price you make the puppies. If people arent willing to pay for a quality pet, How do you know if they are good for your puppy? So I agree you need to go with the area, But I also agree that you need to not make the price so low that just anyone can buy them? I dont believe in shipping my puppies, so If I get someone in Florida that wants my puppies and I can sell at least 2, I drive them to Florida, That way I see who is getting my babies and it gives my the chance to visit family. ( Just my opinion)
JMO - many of the pups that low are usually from puppymillers or BYB. These breeders are just breeding as fast as they can and do not do testing on their dogs nor give care to the pups or parents as much as they could, thus keeping prices low. Buyers must educate themselves so they know what they are buying and remember this is a long time investment that can last 15 years. If you divide the price by the life of the pup - cost is not as much. If the buyer does not do their research and bargin shop - they usually will pay more in the end with vet cost or worse - loose their pup. And not everyone should have a puppy just because they can put down a few bucks. The breeder needs to make sure the new owner can give the best care to this puppy.
