Screaming is usually a fear response, not pain. Ever watched a a whelping...first timers can yelp and cry...then suddenly they have a puppy and a light bulb goes on in their head and the rest is mostly calm and quiet...

Some times a virgin bitch will scream just by putting your hand on her butt
when she is in season...that's when I know she is fearful...sounds heartless, but you have to ignore her protests...not all KNOW they are ready until they are bred...rarely had one protest with the second breeding the next few days...or so...
