I am also replacing all of the carpets in my house with tile and hardwood. I will never have carpet again as long as I have a small dog. She does go potty outside but still has occasional accidents which are probably my fault anyway. At least this way we can clean it up and move on. Besides, carpets are bad for a persons allergies. I couldn't believe the dirt that gets trapped under and in the carpet. Yuck! I just offered vinegar as an inexpensive fix, it doesn't smell pleasant but will also deter a dog from going in that spot again.
