This isn't really a shaved snout, I call it the inverted fan, and if you don't want to grow a topknot, it works really well. Some groomers shave the bridge of the nose, and you see this especially on Maltese, because the white hair stains badly if there is an eye discharge.
To the OP, shaving the snout tends to make the nose look longer, the inverted fan cut looks much better than a shaved snout in my opinion. The good news is that you can choose any haircut you like, there are no rules unless you are showing.
