I've heard it's even harder to potty train Shih Tzu's than yorkies.

Also, as a general rule, a bed can be a big place for a little puppy. Even a puppy who doesn't dirty his sleeping area may think it's sufficient to pee in one corner and then sleep on another corner of the bed.

I think you'll need to really soak your mattress with Nature's Miracle. Now that it smells like dog pee, even a little bit, I imagine it will be even more tempting.

Are you taking him out every two hours, even at night? If not, he may just have resigned himself to sleeping in it. They can't hold it long at that age.

Something I've heard works for puppies is to place their crate somewhere they can see you while you sleep.
