My question for those that have used them: is it o.k. for her to actually eat the bully stick ( and the yucky slimy stuff that goes with it? ) Do you leave yours alone with it? Everything I've ever read says don't leave your puppy alone with a chew toy, which I find difficult since we are gone at work all day and she's alone.

Personally, I would not leave her alone with it. The reason behind this is that as you have seen, it becomes soft (slimy) and pliable. With that, pieces can and do come off and if one is too large, they can choke. Thus, you should be there to supervise IMHO.
