I think its more of a habit, and if it bothers you it is controlable. Chuchi used to follow me too much. I don't mind if he follows me once in a while but when he does it to much I just tell him "stay there" and he does. It is very important to tell him "very good" when I come back and he hasn't followed me. If you don't say anything they will always follow out of habit.
