We got Kona last August when she was 7. It only took a couple of days for her to trust us and now it is like she has always been here. She was trained to go outside and we only had 2 "accidents' with her and they were the first week. We can now go for a few hours and feel fine leaving her home alone. She is crate trained and we used it for the first while. Now she just sleeps in a soft bed by me at night. She will go in the crate when she goes to my sister's or my parent's if we go out of town. She is the best little (10 pounds!) dog ever! I too think about getting another but Kona has been so good I don't know if another would work out as well.
