Default "Nothing" changed after spayed

Sugar is going to be 1 year old in few days time, she weights 1.04kg (previously was 700gram, I made her eat more). I brought her to hospital 2 days ago and get her spayed. Surgeon said Sugar has got hernia but will be fixed separately cause she doesn't have enough muscles as she is too small and it's for her own good. Will need to check back 5-6 months later about the hernia.
Anyway, blood test was done and the surgery performed on Thursday itself. We were advised to keep them in hospital for a night, just to be safe, I decided to make Sugar stay for 2 nights because I know I wouldn't get to sleep at night, worrying the stitches.
I'm sorry this are irrelevant!
Eerrr...okay, I brought her home this morning and she runs and jumps and growls and barks and everything (In her crate)...just like her old-self! I couldn't believe my eyes, I thought she would be at least a little "tame" after the surgery. Alright, I'm not saying I don't like her old-self but I was just shocked because my cat behaved so differently after she got spayed!
What about your little ones, do they change a lot after getting spayed?
