She does, Linda, and I'm beginning to understand her sounds, too. Last night while we were watching a ballgame she started whimpering while walking away from us. Frank's response was, "What's wrong, Taffy?"
My automatic response was, "Where are you going to hide it?" even before she turned around. Sure enough when she turned around she had a bully stick in her mouth. She was looking for a place to hide it and she makes the cutest whimpers when she's hunting for her place to stash her loot.
