Thanks for the link. This phrase was what really explained it to me:
"As the watery part of the tear film diminishes, the eye tries to compensate by making more mucousy material. In addition, inflammation of the surface of the eye also stimulates the production of more mucous."
Also i find it funny that the Banfield vet suggested surgery right away, when the link said surgery only in unresponsive cases, when we didn't even test her to see if she even had KCS!
