Actually I dont see anything wrong with someone telling the Op to go to the vet. They are the ones that should be diagnosing they are the ones qualified too. I understand some pet owners may have some knowledge of a certain illness or sickness because there pet may have had it and they should share that but no one on here should be diagnosing a problem.
