With regards to getting a 2nd dog...IMO you should hold off...you don’t sound like you're ready and I've learned from this site not to get another dog unless you're REALLY ready...don’t get another one just to keep the other dog happy...two dogs is a lot of work and double everything...food, toys, vet, etc....
Congrats on your move to SF...I live about 20 min away from the city...

Thank you! Penny goes outside to potty. I would have to keep a pee pad on the kitchen floor when I'm at work. Would it be possible to baby gate her in the kitchen on the tile floor instead of using an xpen? TV and radio sounds like a good idea. ^_^
