First of all, congratulations on your new litter. In my 13 years of raising yorkies I have never had a momma growl or snap at me while I was handling the pups. Personally, I would not allow her to get away with it. You have to be able to handle them in order to know if they are latching on well and nursing. Do you have the momma in a private area or are there other dogs near her? She needs a lot of privacy but she has to know that you are allowed to handle her and the puppies. Just try to talk reassuring to her and hopefully she will settle down. You have to be able to get her to eat and drink. Good luck.
