I have always walked all four together with no problem two in one hand and two in the other. They were really enjoying getting out and checking out the neighborhood. When I rounded the corner to turn down the next block, I passed about 4 houses, when out of an empty lot I spotted a little boy, must have been 6 or 7 years old walking a Bull Mastiff! My first reaction was this is going to be big trouble. I took a quick glance to see if a parent was with him, and wouldn't you know it - no adult!!! My next reaction was to pick up all 4 of my dogs. I had three in my arms when all of a sudden I am charged by at least a 115lb Bull Mastiff!! He knocked me down and all three fell out of my arms. All of a sudden I hear Bosley screaming- I turn around and this dog has him in his mouth shaking him back and forth. I grabbed the dog and started punching and screaming. He dropped Bosley so Ipick him up and now he has my Baby Zoey (2.5 lb) smashed on the ground and trying to pick her up in his mouth!!! Again I charge the dog screaming for someone to help me and punching and kicking till he releases her! Now I have 2 of my babies in my hand (still screaming for help) and Holly takes off running down the road crying because she is so scared. Cars are coming, I'm flagging at them and pointing down at the road so they can see her in the road and hoping they would get out and help me. Now that huge monster has my LuLu and I am frantically trying to keep site of Holly and now I'm thinking one is definitely going to be killed right before my eyes!!! Finally some man came from nowhere and grabbed the Bull Mastiff which freed Lulu and all I could do was run after Holly. By this time I was shaking and crying (I think I was in shock). Finally captured Holly and collapsed on someones front yard so I could check them for injuries. Was I shocked there was no blood or cuts. All of a sudden this woman appears and she is laughing and asking if we are all right????? Is she crazy or is it me???? She explained to me that it is her sisters dog and the 7 yr. old wanted to walk him and she thought it would be OK!!!!
(still laughing she proceeds to tell me it is a very gentle dog. When I told her he attacked my dogs, she said yea, he only gets vicious when he sees other dogs!!! By then I told her I didnt know if my dogs were hurt until I get them to the vet to be checked still laughing she walked away. What is wrong with people to let a child walk such a big dog without supervision.
Thank God, all my babies are OK and no one was hurt. Even my vet said it was a miracle. I called the police to make a report, and they said there was nothing they could do about it! If it was a child, I bet they wouldn't have said that! I just wanted them to be aware that there is a vicious dog in our neighborhood.
What really got me was no one came out to help! I saw people looking out windows, cars driving by, and yet nothing. I think that is what made me so much angrier. Any way sorry for being so long, just needed to vent.
Hold your babies tight and watch them at all times.
First and foremost, thank goodness that you and your babies are all ok. Good for you for putting up a fight! I'm sure you didn't give it a second thought as neither would I. With people's attitude these days and not wanting to get involved, it was a miracle that this man showed up to help you .I agree with the other YT poster, you can call your local animal control and they will come out and get a report from you and speak to the owners of the bull mastiff. You can have your vet records handy so that you have some sort of proof. Does the man that helped you live in the area, could he be a witness?
