Anesthesia has a risk, but does that mean no one or no dogs should have surgery? Of course not.
the problem was the mixture of drugs ketaconazole and ivermectin prescribed by a bc dermatologist - The derm made a HUGE mistake they are human. My friends dog was on a small dose of ivermectin for a year no issues with another dermatologist she wanted a dermatologist closer to her and i recommended this one as she has been in practice for years and many use her as well in our area and i even thought of going to her as a second opinion on dd but so glad i did not after this whole fiasco. I have alot of dermatology books and she has written sections in the book so thought she knew her stuff but everyone is capable of mistakes and this was a HUGE one - my friend followed her advice to the T even when my friend called her saying sophie was acting drunk - right then that was a sign of ivermectin toxicity yet she told my friend to dose again after one day of rest and sophie went into massive seizures then coma so what all came of this is NEVER MIX KETACONAZOLE AND IVERMECTIN - even our derm was in shock over all this and they warned every dermatologist on their staff of this as they own facilities all over the country so not all dermatologists knew about this until it happened to Sophie and why i share this with anyone using ivermectin for demodex
