Once I was driving and saw a hawk swoop down on a rabbit and carry it away in its claws. The rabbit was wiggling and squealing, it was terrible.
I have seen a hawk in my backyard, but if I even move the curtain to get a better look he flies away (I guess that's where the expression "eyes like a hawk" comes from). I can't imagine that the hawk would get my dog (she's 8.2 lbs, he might have trouble picking her up) when I am in the yard, but I guess it's possible. I remember hearing that Jessica Simpson's little dog was drug away by a coyote right in front of her eyes this past summer.
We also have a hoot owl I hear sometimes at night but of course I have never seen it. And I also hear coyotes at night but not real close to the house.
It is really hard to go outside with my dog these cold nights, sometimes I watch from the door, but I think I need to be more diligent. I sure wish she would just use the paper, but she prefers to go out. And when she goes out she plays around most of the time. |
