Definitely best and then when it's all clear you need to give a good deep cleaning shampoo to the carpet. Sucks the damage they can do. When you do a clean you don't really realize how much gets down and under the carpet into the spongy lining under it. That is probably why he is repeating on the carpet. Unless your house is fully carpeted I suggest that you limit him being in a room with carpet until you know for sure he is 100% potty trained. If he is in a room with carpet be sure to maybe have him teethered to you so you can watch him every minute of it. Carpet is just like a soft piddle pad to them.
