We did and still do the expen with our 2. At night they go in for night, night. I have a crate, 2 beds with lots of blankies and their pad in there. They are older. They are loose on the first floor all day. They use their pad regardless of being in or out of their pen.
When we gone to family homes, they sleep with us in their bed and use the pad.
