I kinda blame myself bc I was slacking in the brushing dept. for a while and that is when it happend. so now I am better at it. I also give her those white bones at pet smart to chew on every once in a while. She also loves this bone I bought at

I had originally bought one for Pixie and Daisy stole it. It has helped Daisy's teeth. I just have to take it away if it gets a lil chewd up.
If there is plaque under the gums, it can develop into gum disease....the only way it can be removed and treated is by having the teeth cleaned.....
