I can't imagine a momma that would quit letting them nurse at that age. Have you cut their toenails? The cereal and rice mixture is fine but I also recommend you get a good quality dry puppy food and grind it in the blender until it is really fine and leave that down for them all the time. That is how I wean my pups and it works like a charm. I start weaning mine at 3 1/2 to 4 weeks by leaving the ground up dry food down but I also allow them to nurse their mother as long as she is willing. Most will start trying to wean the pups at 6 weeks or older. I have had some mommas that would still let the pups nurse at 10 weeks or older.
