when i leave mine alone (it is what it is, we work) i leave her in an ex-pen with her soft crate, blanket, toys & water in there. if yours were in a pen, at least he wouldn't be rubbing his paws raw on the doorframe? maybe he needs a smaller space to feel secure in?
