well i'm gonna put my 2 cents in b/c i'm addicted to "The dog whisperer" and i watched a show about how the dog followed her owner and would attack anyone who came near the "momma" its a negative obsession. It's as simple as trainging the sit and stay technique. It was mentioned on here to use that at the doorway. That would be a great place to start... Then move to have her sit and stay, walk a few feet away, then go back and treat, keep going further and further, until eventually you're out of sight. It does take a while and you have to enforce it. but it DOES work. After stepping on my oldest too many times i had to train her to stay out of the kitchen and everywhere else i go, expecially laundry. Took about 2 weeks and now she only follows me if i invite her to. Remember, they're dogs, not humans. They dont own us (even though they really do haha!) Hope this helps! |
