We had Bandit as an only dog, and when he was a little over 2 we added Nala. SHe was a VERY high energy puppy! At first Bandit would have absolutely nothing to do with her, but now they cuddle together on the couch and play together. It was a long warming up period, and at times I really thought Bandit would never like her, but it was so worth it. I know Bandit loves having a playmate, and although she can be too much at times for him (shes's 10 months, he's almost 3 years) I think it was a good decision to get her. My only advice is to do introductions carefully on neutral territory (we did it at my parents house).
