Iraq, I wouldn't worry too much. Concerned of course because they are over there, but Iraq is pretty much safe. All our efforts in the war are currently directed in Afghanistan now. Good news is were getting out of Iraq, bad news is now all the deployments are shipping to Afghanistan. She is definetly going to need the support none the less. Being away from a loved one for 6-7 months or even a year is so tough. You probably say to yourself that's not that long but think of being away from your most cherished person for even a week, times that by ten and it feels insufferable. Just pick up the phone when she calls after he leaves no matter what time because sometimes you just need to cry to someone, even if you dont say anything. I do a whole lot of that lately...uggh its so frustrating.
