I believe that age gap is fine. Gizmo was about a year and a half when we got Kandi. You do have to watch them carefully at first, and it does take a while. We had our moments at first when they were getting used to each other, but it got steadily better over time.
I just don't want you to think that they were best buddies the next day, because that's not what happens. Gizmo spent a lot of time at first pouting in his tent.
