And if they put the kids in foster care (if relatives can't continue to care for all of them) there's slim to no chance they'll stay together
That's a horrific story. Were the kids in school or were they being "home schooled." If teachers saw warning signs they probably contacted DCS, but without concrete proof of imminent danger their hands are kind of tied.
