[QUOTE=Bet;2968527]I was told people who raise show dogs retire their moms by 5 years old - sometimes earlier depending on the mom. It seems at least some of the time their yorkies live in their homes and are housetrained and naturally socialized. They offer them to good homes sometimes. Seeing our girls are seven years old that could make more sense.[/QUOTE
There can be advantages to adopting an adult dog, but the good breeders I know don't part with them very easily. You or someone close to you would have to be well known to them personally. Yorkies Inc. does an excellent job with placements of this nature but be prepared for very careful scrutiny of your situation. I'm concerned about the idea of someone "settling" for a retired breeder, as mine are even more precious to me than my puppies in many ways. Best wishes in your search.
