URGENT: my 6 month old puppy ingested Clipper Oil Hi,
I am very freaked out right now!
I noticed Bailey sitting in his bed chewing on something, and when I got to him it was a small bottle that came in a package with his Wahl hair clipper. It is called Wahl Clipper Oil. On the lable it says to keep it away from children because it it poisonous.
He was chewing the bottle and punctured it with his teeth. When I took it away the bottle was all oily and his mouth was also oily. I am not sure how much of it was in the bottle to start with, but I'd say at least a quarter of it is missing. (It's a very small bottle, maybe 3-4 table spoons in there)
I rushed him to the sink and washed out his mouth as much as I could, and also gave him some toast and forced him to drink water. (not sure whether that was a good idea or not, I was in panic and trying to do what I can)
I phoned his vet immediately but he said to wait and see whether he vomits and than to call him back. (he said it should happen within the next half hour or so). It's been about 30 minutes but he seems ok so far, nothing unusual.
Should I be doing anything else??? I am just very freaked out and have no idea what to do!!!!
I know he definitely got some of the Clipper Oil in his mouth, what if he goes without showing any symptoms, is there any long term damage? He is a 6 month puppy, in a good health.
Also, what is the maximum time that he would get symptoms if he got poisoned? At what point will I know he will be ok?
I'm extremely worried about him! He's a very sweet puppy, I can't imagine something bad happening to him!!
Anything else I can do at this point??? |
