I agree good advice. My dogs are leashed when we go out, so when we go to the door to go out, they stand there waiting to be leashed, when we come in the door they stand untill I unleash them. If they were to go to the door when someone came in or the kids ran out the door and left it open some, they got a sharp NO and I removed them from the door. I started when they were tiny pups house training.. they just learned from that. Now if someone comes to the door, Tucker will go to the door but stand there, not one time has he bolted out the door. He knows he has to be on a leash to go out.However, As a safety measure, I have installed a gate that automatically shuts across my porch that stays shut all the time.

You can never be too safe with the these little guys...
