It's not really sad, but it is a bit depressing reading about some of the hardships some of the people face. But, the overall concept is pretty far fetched, so it's easy to remember that these are not real people.
I let a friend borrow them (there are 2) Saturday night. Monday AM he called and begged me to bring him the 2nd one, and Tuesday he actually took off work to go home and read!
They certainly suck you in!
